We satisfy our desire to innovate by responding to a need, improvising our way towards a solution and then realizing it.
Innovation is complemented by organization (see opposite face) which is about who leads and follows to implement. If we innovate without organization then we have 'R&D' and no 'production.' Organization in itself brings nothing new but it is foundational if we want to make our innovation real.
When we share our visualization of what we need and make our contribution in collaboration with others in order to innovate, all on a foundation of organization for implementation, then we have leadership.
"Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower."
- Steve Jobs
"Innovation is the specific instrument of entrepreneurship. The act that endows resources with a new capacity to create wealth."
- Peter Drucker
"To face the garment of rebellion
With some fine color that may please the eye
Of fickle changelings and poor discontents.
Which gape and rub the elbow at the news
Of hurly-burly innovation."
- William Shakespeare
